We held a public lecture, admission charged, “Two directors involved in the Heisei Ultra-Series; The Golden Era of Japanese Special Effects" on Saturday, Feb.18th.
The event began with a talk show with Professor Kengo Kaji of the University's Department of Information Media, featuring Mr. Takeshi Yagi, director and special effects director of Ultraman Gaia, Ultraman Max, Ultra Seven X, and the 8 Super Ultra Brothers Battle. He shared episodes from his days at Tsuburaya Productions, secret stories related to the monster's body suit, and his thoughts on the filming, and Professor Kaji watched a short movie directed by him. In the second half, participants were able to experience a special effects demonstration using a green screen through an online connection with the video studio next door. The event ended with an autograph session.
