With support from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Kanagawa Institute of Technology Smart House Research Center is working with the ECHONET Consortium, a general incorporated association, on international standardization activities for ECHONET Lite, a Japan-originated communication standard for controlling home appliances in smart houses.
On Jul. 22nd, 2022, the fourth edition of IEC 62394, the international standard version of the device object detailed specification that defines its communication control commands for each home appliance, was published.
This is an international standardization by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) of 59 devices that should be treated as international standards from the 116 devices listed in the Detailed Requirements for Device Objects, Version M.
Since the third edition, the fourth edition has undergone a major revision, with 512 pages in English, and Kanagawa Institute of Technology has contributed greatly to the revision.
The Smart House Research Center will continue to promote international standardization activities to promote the ECHONET Lite communication standard internationally.
