Professor Terui, a member of JAXA's Hayabusa2 project, received "the 53rd Ichimura Prize
Professor Fuyuto Terui, the Aerospace Course of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, who is a member of JAXA's Hayabusa2 project, received the 53rd Ichimura Prize for Excellent Achievement from the Ichimura Foundation for New Technology, and the presentation ceremony was held at the Imperial Hotel, Tokyo on April 19.
<Professor Fuyuto Terui's comments on the award>
This award was given for the contribution to the Hayabusa2's two successful touchdowns by establishing high-precision image navigation guidance and control technology, specifically, pinpoint touchdown using target markers. Though, we, three members of the AOCS (Attitude and Orbit Control Subsystem) of the JAXA Hayabusa2 project, received this award, we are all given the prize together with the related manufacturers and the members of the JAXA Hayabusa2 project. In addition, the navigation guidance control for touchdown has many parts that follow the technology of Hayabusa1, and I feel keenly that this achievement is an extension of that technology, and I would be happy if I could enjoy the award together with the people involved in Hayabusa1 project.
