On March 21, 2026, the 9th “KAIT Racer GP: Autonomous RC Car Race Powered by AI” was held on campus. This event aims to provide a platform for learning the integration of information science and engineering by having students compete using vehicles, AI systems, and motion control technologies they have developed themselves. It also seeks to cultivate talent capable of contributing to the future development of industry.

A total of 11 teams participated in this year’s competition, including university students, high school students, and working professionals from both within and outside the prefecture. Participating high schools from outside the region included those from Aichi and Shizuoka Prefectures.

Each race lasted two minutes, with teams competing to complete the greatest number of laps in two categories: the “Expert Class” and the “Entry Class.” Although two vehicle scales (1/10 and 1/28) were used, all teams competed on the same course.

In the Expert Class, the team “KAIT AI Racing” (Department of Mechanical Engineering) won first place. The Concours d’Elegance (Design Award) was presented to “Hinageshi Kagekidan” (Department of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering). Their elaborately decorated vehicle, styled as a “dekotora” truck, energized the venue by opening its container during the run and navigating curves in an unstable state while featuring vivid illumination and loud music.
