Graduate of the Department of Applied Chemistry and Bioscience Receives Poster Encouragement Award from the Japan Society for Antibacterial and Antifungal Agents

Mao Hayashi, a graduate of the Department of Applied Chemistry and Bioscience (currently a JSPS Research Fellow (PD) in the Iida Laboratory), has received the Poster Encouragement Award from the Japan Society for Antibacterial and Antifungal Agents.

This award is granted in recognition of outstanding poster presentations delivered at the society’s meeting held on September 24, 2025 (Reiwa 7), following a rigorous evaluation of the presented research.

The title of Ms. Hayashi’s presentation was:
“Construction of an Expression System for Cytotoxic Enzymes: Improving Transformation Efficiency through Suppression of Enzymatic Activity Using DNA Methyltransferase as a Model Case.”

Her research, which addressed challenges associated with constructing expression systems for cytotoxic enzymes, was highly գնահատed for its approach of improving transformation efficiency through the suppression of enzymatic activity.

The university is delighted that the education and research conducted at KAIT have been recognized in this way and looks forward to Ms. Hayashi’s continued success in her future endeavors.
