Professor Emeritus Masato Abe Named Honorable Member of IAVSD
Professor Emeritus Masato Abe of Kanagawa Institute of Technology has been named an Honorable Member of the International Association for Vehicle System Dynamics (IAVSD), a prestigious global academic society in the field of vehicle dynamics. The announcement was made during the reception at IAVSD 2025, held in Shanghai, China, in August 2025.
Professor Abe is internationally recognized for his outstanding contributions to vehicle dynamics and chassis control. He has led pioneering research in integrated chassis control, including the integration of rear-wheel steering and yaw moment control, as well as the development of G-Vectoring Control. His innovative approaches—such as driver model-based evaluations of handling stability—have significantly advanced automotive technology.
In addition to his research achievements, Professor Abe has played a key role in promoting international academic exchange through his service as Vice President and Board Member of IAVSD, and as Chair of the Organizing Committee for the 2003 IAVSD Symposium held in Kanagawa, Japan.
This honor reflects the high regard for his long-standing academic contributions and global impact in the field.
Notably, Professor Makoto Yamato of Kanagawa Institute of Technology also currently serves as a board member of IAVSD, continuing the university’s commitment to global collaboration in education and research.
