Visit from Taiwan ETC and National Central University to the HEMS Certification Support Center
On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Mr. Hsieh Chun-Hsiang of Taiwan ETC (*1) and Professor Hu Chih-Lin of National Central University (Taoyuan City, Taiwan) visited the HEMS Certification Support Center.
Taiwan ETC is a government-affiliated third-party testing and certification organization in Taiwan. It conducts testing and certification for CNS 16014 (TaiSEIA 101), the standard communication protocol for smart home devices promoted in Taiwan. The organization is also engaged in research on interoperability with Japan’s international IoT communication standard, ECHONET Lite (ISO/IEC 14543-4-3).
In October 2024, our university signed a mutual cooperation agreement with National Central University to promote and support a joint research project on energy management systems (*2). Through this partnership, we are advancing research on the application of ECHONET Lite technology in Taiwan.
During the visit,
the delegation paid a courtesy call on President Inoue and participated in a technical exchange focused on protocol interoperability between TaiSEIA and ECHONET Lite. Our university’s Smart House Research Center is currently developing a protocol bridge to enable this interoperability, aiming to facilitate the use of ECHONET Lite devices in Taiwan’s energy management systems.
Additionally, National Central University introduced student-developed TaiSEIA control applications, and discussions were held regarding future collaboration on ECHONET Lite integration.
