On Friday, Apr. 25th, the award ceremony for the best high activity in 2024 was organized at the President's Office and Rika Suzuki, a junior student in the Department of Information Media, received a certificate and an extra prize from President Inoue.

At the ceremony, President Inoue, recommender Professor Kosuke Takano from the Department of Information and Computer Science, and Professor Sakai Masahiro, head of the Department of Information Media,  congratulated Ms. Suzuki for her achievements and looked forward to her future achievements.  Ms. Suzuki had been interested in overseas activities since before she entered the school, and her participation in the MIT App Inventor workshop led by Professor Takano in her first year led to this achievement. Ms. Suzuki expressed her ambition to further devote herself to her work, encouraged by this award.

Reason for Award

She contributed to the Japanese language version of MIT App Inventor.

MIT App Inventor is a smartphone app creation tool developed by a team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and widely used around the world. Although translations by volunteers exist, until now there has been no official Japanese translation for the platform, and the fact that this is the first officially translated version of Japanese by Ms. Suzuki is highly commendable. This greatly expands the possibilities for introducing and deploying App Inventor in programming education for Japanese elementary and junior high school students and other pupils and general learners.
