The visit was part of the 3-year project of“Grassroots International Cooperation Projects”. Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy envisions implementing gerontological nursing in its curriculum, considering that Vietnam is entering an aging society in about ten years.

On the first day of the visit, at the welcome session, President Komiya and Dr. Ngo Thanh Binh, Head of the Training Department, presented detailed explanations of both institutes and followed it up with a lively exchange of ideas.

The delegation also visited class sessions and clinical simulation training at Deparment of Nursing, along with inter-collegiate presentations of research proposals held by the department. Also, they visited the clinical facilities, nursing home, specialized elderly-care facilities, and the home care nursing station where KAIT students in gerontological nursing receive training. They observed the front line of Japanese foundational nursing training and clinical elderly care. The visit was very productive for both institutes, as future collaboration plans have also been taken into account.
