“Support Program for Female Junior and Senior High School Students to Choose a Career Path in Science"

The Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) has selected our university for its “Program to Support Female Junior and Senior High School Students in Choosing a Career Path in Science”. Seven universities, including Kanagawa Institute of Technology, were selected for the program, the first in Kanagawa Prefecture! We are also the only private university to be selected!

Kanagawa Techno-Future Program for Female Students: Shaping Dreams with Science

Project Outline

Kanagawa Institute of Technology, located in Atsugi City in the central area of Kanagawa Prefecture where many future-oriented technology companies are concentrated and based, in cooperation with the Kanagawa Prefectural Board of Education and local companies, will conduct a program aimed at developing human resources for engineering girls who will support the manufacturing industry in the future. To create an environment of awareness for female junior and senior high school students throughout Kanagawa Prefecture, where they can concretely imagine their future career paths and the occupations that lie ahead, and naturally choose their future career paths with hope, through literature and science-integrated problem exploration that integrates the humanities and sciences. In addition, seminars will be held to make parents and teachers aware of the existence of unconscious prejudice that lurks around female junior and senior high school students as an issue, to create a community atmosphere that can actively support the diverse career choices of female junior and senior high school students.
