Hello everyone, I am delighted to be here today at the KAIT international symposium, celebrating remarkable academic on the 60th anniversary of the history and I am glad to be a part of this achievement. I would like to share the journey of the collaboration between Bangkok University and Kanagawa Institute of Technology. This is a special moment for us, a chance to look back at our journey and also ahead to the exciting possibilities that our partnership holds. Our journey began back in August 2021 guided by Professor Kazutake Uehira at KAIT. Three initiatives encompassed games, mobile applications and manga involving collective of 17 undergraduate students from the Department of Games and Interactive Media, supported by Professor Uehira, Dr. Piyarat Silapasuphakornwong from KAIT, and Assistant Professor Dr. Kingkarn Sookhanaphibarn from Bangkok University. Our collaboration started to take shape. As time went on, our connection grew stronger and more formal with an agreement. In December 2021, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the school of Information Technology and Innovation, BU and KAIT, committing to five years of collaborative research and student exchange. This was more than just a piece of paper, it embodied our shared desire to learn from each other’s cultures and knowledge. Moving into 2022, our collaboration continued to flourish. Professor Kosuke Takano played a key role, arranging various activities. We held three invited talks through video conferences, and a short-term online programming course in game development. Additionally, our BU students gained valuable experience through a four-month online internship under Takano sensei’s supervisor. As we stepped into 2023, the spirit of collaboration burned brighter than ever. KAIT initiated the Intern Program at Bangkok University, Thailand, creating an atmosphere conductive to the free exchange of Ideas for project collaboration. This initiative brought together 22 KAIT students and 15 BU students for intensive learning in fields like Game Development, Virtual Reality, IoT, and Data Science. Moreover, the program introduced a buddy system paring KAIT students with their BU buddies facilitating an exchange of perspectives and experiences. This partnership not only enhanced the academic journey but also enriched the cultural exchange aspect on the program. Alongside the academic aspects, we shared cultural experiences such as Thai language lessons, cooking classes, and explorations of Ayutaya’s heritage. Our bond grew even stronger, when two BU internship students spent time at KAIT from May to August 2023. Their experiences added another layer to our partnership solidifying the bridge between our institutions. At present, we find ourselves on the threshold of a new era. The ongoing partnership will focus on Metaverse and AI applications, especially large language model. Dive into Bangkok University’s virtual campus on Roblox, where the art of coding meets the world of creating Metaverse. KAIT and BU students, guided by supervisors work together to develop a desired virtual campus and insert AI technology to make it real and immersive. More than just coding or research, it’s also a place to practice English in a fun way with game like features. This mix of learning, technology, and language practice helps develop innovative leaders and experts in AI and Metaverse. I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the others who have taken steps in this collaboration. On the KAIT side, we owe a big thank you to Prof. Hiroshi Tanaka, Prof. Kengo Kaji, Prof. Motofumi Hattori, Ms. Satomi Maki and also Ms. Haruna Yokota. And over on the BU side, we’re grateful for the contributions of Dr. Phattanapon Rhienmora, Dr. Panadda Unyapho, Dr. Worawat Choensawat, Dr. Narumol Vannaprathip, Dr. Romuald Jolivot, and Associate Professor Poompat Saengudomlert. But let’s not forget, there are even more fantastic others who’ve helped us along the way. Unfortunately we can’t mention everyone due to space constraints. But your support hasn’t gone unnoticed. 皆様、こんにちは。本日、大学の創立60周年を祝う素晴らしいKAIT国際シンポジウムに参加させていただいたことを、大変嬉しく思います。まず、バンコク大学と神奈川工科大学の協力関係の歩みを振り返らせていただきます。これは私たちにとって特別な瞬間です。これまで私たちが辿ってきた道を振り返るとともに、私たちのパートナーシップがこれからどれほど素晴らしい可能性をもたらすことを確認する機会となるかと思います。私たちの歩みは、2021年8月、神奈川工科大学の上平員丈教授の主導で始まりました。上平教授、KAITのPiyarat Silapasuphakornwong先生、バンコク大学のKingkarn Sookhanaphibarn先生のサポートを受けながら、ゲーム・インタラクティブメディア学科の学部生17人が参加し、ゲーム、モバイルアプリケーション、マンガの3つのプロジェクトに取り組みました。ここから、私たちの協力関係が構築されました。時が経つにつれて、私たちのつながりはより強くなり、協定を結ぶことで、さらに正式なものとなりました。2021年12月、BUの情報技術イノベーション学部とKAITの間で、5年間の共同研究と学生交流の実施に関する覚書が締結されました。これはただの書類上の約束事ではなく、互いの文化や知識を学びたいという私たちの共通の願いが形となるものでした。2022年になると、私たちの協力関係はさらに強くなっていきました。鷹野孝典教授が中心となり、様々な活動を企画して下さいました。オンラインでの三回の招待講演が企画され、短期のオンライン・プログラミング・コースを開講されました。加えて、BUの学生たちは、鷹野先生のご指導をいただきながら、4ヶ月間のオンライン・インターンシップによって、大変貴重な経験をすることができました。2023年になると、協力体制はこれまで以上にさらに活発なものとなりました。KAITからバンコク大学にて実施するインターンプログラムが提案されるとともに、プロジェクトを協力して推進していくための自由な意見交換を促進する雰囲気が育くまれていきました。このプログラムでは、KAITの学生22名とバンコク大学の学生15名が、ゲーム開発、バーチャルリアリティ、IoT、データサイエンスなどの分野の集中講義を受けました。さらに、このプログラムではKAITの学生とBUの学生とを結ぶバディ・システムが導入され、互いに自己の視点や経験を伝え合うための仕掛けとなりました。このパートナーシップにより、学びの交流だけでなく、プログラムにおける文化的な交流が盛んになりました。学術的な交流に加え、タイ語のレッスンや料理教室、アユタヤ遺跡の訪問などの文化的な面においても、経験をともにしました。2023年5月から8月にかけて、2人のBUインターンシップ生がKAITで研修を受けることで、私たちの絆はさらに深まっていきました。彼らの経験は私たちのパートナーシップに新しい側面をもたらすとともに、両校の架け橋をより強いものにしてくれました。現在、私たちは新しい時代の入り口に立っています。これからの協力体制では、メタバースとAIアプリケーション、特に大規模言語モデルの導入に焦点を当てていくでしょう。Roblox上のバンコク大学のバーチャル・キャンパスに入ると、最先端のプログラミング技術により創造されたメタバースの世界を体験することができます。KAITとバンコク大学の学生は、指導者とともに、理想的なバーチャル・キャンパスを開発し、AI技術を導入することで、リアルで没入感のあるものを実現していくでしょう。単にプログラミングや研究を行うだけでなく、ゲームのような機能を使って楽しく英語を学習する場も提供していきます。このような学び、テクノロジー、言語実践を合わせて行うことで、AIやメタバースにおける革新的なリーダーや専門家を育成に貢献していくことができます。このような協力体制の推進にご協力いただいた他の方にも、この場を借りて謝意を表したいと思います。KAITの田中博教授、梶研吾教授、服部基史教授、真木聡美様、そして横田はるな様に感謝申し上げます。そしてBUの、Phattanapon Rhienmora学部長、Panadda Unyapho先生、Worawat Choensawat先生、Narumol Vannaprathip先生、Romuald Jolivot先生、Poompat Saengudomlert先生の貢献に感謝いたします。しかし、忘れてはならないのは、私たちを助けてくださったさらに多くの素晴らしい方々がいらっしゃるということです。残念ながら時間の都合で皆様のお名前を出すことはできませんが、ご支援いただいたことは決して忘れられるものではございません。KAITとBUの交流発展のためにともにご尽力いただいてきた皆様に感謝しております。ありがとうございました。
