Accepted Asia Pacific Leadership Trainees for University Training

Duskin Leadership Training

As part of the Duskin Leadership Training in Japan, a program for persons with disabilities in Asia and the Pacific, Care of Japanese Society for Rehabilitations of Persons with Disabilities,  we accepted Ms. Maudita Zobritania (nicknamed "Zo") from Indonesia for two days on Nov. 10th and 11th for training at a university.

Although Ms. Zo uses a wheelchair, she is an active person who goes everywhere using Japan's public transportation system. She graduated this October from the University of Brawijaya, Indonesia, majoring in Japanese Literature, and has studied barrier-free access for people with disabilities, welfare services, employment, and empowerment of women with disabilities in Japan. Before returning from Japan, she learned about our university by watching the "International Seminar on Disability and Disaster Prevention held as a zoom webinar hosted by the Center for Regional Cooperation and Contribution, Research Center for Regional Cooperation and Disaster Care, and she was eager to come to our university.


They made a courtesy visit to the President and talked about "Mitsuo Aida".

At the affiliated library,  Zo, a Japanese literature major, asked questions such as, "Do you have Haruki Murakami?” She is a reader of Japanese literature in English, from Soseki Natsume to Keigo Higashino.

On the second day, students learned about robot development up close in the laboratory of Associate Professor Ryo Saegusa of the Department of Robotics and Mechatronics. 1st year to 4th year students participated, beginning with a self-introduction presentation, followed by student reports on their respective research and an exchange of opinions. Ms. Zo commented, "I was able to learn deeply from the dialogue with the students and professors, and it was a very meaningful two days. We expect that after returning from Japan, Ms. Zo will play an active role in improving the lives of people with disabilities.

Kanagawa Institute of Technology will continue to develop international exchange at various levels with students at every opportunity.
