On Jun 25th, President Kazumi Komiya received the Alexander Bain Award by the Institute of Image Electronics Engineers. The Institute of Image Electronics Engineers specializes in imaging technology and has a 50-year history.

Alexander Bain (UK) was the founder of the facsimile machine, and the Alexander Bain Award was established to commemorate his achievements and is given to a member who has made an outstanding contribution to imaging technology. President Komiya received the award in recognition of his "pioneering research on next-generation image input technology and his dedicated contribution to the management activities of the institute.

President Komiya has made many pioneering achievements in digital imaging technology, including the world's first successful commercialization of an image sensor, which is the core of the facsimile machines found in homes today. He has also served the institute as editor-in-chief and president, and has been instrumental in the reform of the institute, including the digitization of the institute journal, and continues to contribute as an honorary member and fellow. On receiving the award, he commented, "I am honored to receive this very prestigious award. I would like to continue to support young researchers to gather at the conference, to work hard, and to achieve world-class results.
