Participated in the 6th University of Technology Summit

On Saturday, Nov. 25th, nine universities of technology in Japan, Aichi Institute of

Technology, Osaka Institute of Technology, Kanagawa Institute of Technology, Shibaura

Institute of Technology, Tohoku Institute of Technology, Hiroshima Institute of Technology,

Fukui University of Technology, Fukuoka Institute of Technology, and Hokkaido University of Science held “the 6th University of Technology Summit” at Yagiyama campus of Tohoku Institute of Technology. The event was supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

This year's theme was "Fostering Human Resources in Science and Engineering for the Future; What Technical Universities Can Do for Disaster Prevention, Disaster Mitigation, and Reconstruction," which provided opportunities for presentations, exchanges, and discussions by students and faculty members.


In the morning, an intercollegiate e-sports tournament and a robot battle contest were held as student exchange events. 3 students from KAITe-Sports participated in the e-sports division as players. Although they ended up as runners-up in the team competition, they were able to deepen exchanges with students from other universities through e-sports.

In the student presentations and a president's panel discussion, first part of the event, presidents and current students from each university gave presentations on their university's efforts and research related to disaster prevention, disaster mitigation, and reconstruction.

After President Kazumi Komiya gave a presentation on "Reconstruction Assistance by Kanagawa Institute of Technology and Disaster Countermeasures at Universities," Mr. ISHII Katsunori, a third-year student in the Department of Information Media, Faculty of Informatics, gave an overview of the activities of the "KAIT SDGs HUB" as a representative of the university.

 In the second part, workshops were held on three themes: "A. Quality Assurance of Education in Science and Engineering Universities," "B. Measures to Activate Inter-University Collaboration at the University of Technology Summit," and "C. Human Resource Development for Disaster Prevention, Disaster Mitigation and Recovery in Science and Engineering Universities”.

In addition to  Mr. Ishii of the KAIT SDGs HUB, Mr. Harayama, a third-year student in the Department of Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Engineering, took the stage at the session on "Human Resource Development for Disaster Prevention, Disaster Mitigation, and Recovery". In addition to reporting and introducing activities related to disaster prevention in the "KAIT SDGs HUB," he shared his opinions on such topics as "disaster prevention functions required of universities.
